MSMEs Survey, 10 - 30 November,2011


 

NBS in Collaboration with SMEDAN is Conducting National Micro, Small & Medium Enterprises (MSMES) Survey, starting from 10th to 30th November,2011. The main objective of the Survey is to establish a credible and reliable database for MSMEs Sub - Sector in Nigeria, and towards infrastructure provision that will stimulate and trigger the growth and development of the Sub - Sector in accordance with SMEDAN’s mandate. The Survey will be conducted in all the 36 states of the federation and the FCT

Administrative Areas 
The apex of the administrative structure is the state capital, Akure. The state has eighteen Local Government Areas. 
 
Geology 
There are two land formations: sedimentary rocks and pre-cambrian basement complex rocks which can be found in the southern and nothern parts respectively.  
 
Historical Development 
Ondo State was one of the seven more states created on 3rd February, 1976. It was caved out the former Western State of Nigeria. It has its capital at Akure. The state is bounded by Ekiti State in the north, Osun state by the north-west, Ogun statein the west Edo state in the east and the Atlantic Ocean in the south According to 1991 population census, the state has about 2,364,792. Ondo state occupied a land area of about 20,959 squared kilometers before Ekiti State was created out of Ondo State. 
 
Mineral Resources 
The state has become a member of the Nigerian oil producing states as petroleum is now extracted offshore. Also Bitumen, iron ore, granite, coal, columbite, tin and marble are present in the state.  
 
Vegetation 
High forest which composed of many varieties of hardwood timber such as melicia excelsa antiaris africana, terminalia supeerba, lophira procera and symphonia gbobulifera.
