CA11. What medicine was (name) given?
(Circle all medicines given).
This question aims to determine whether the child was given an antibiotic for the illness for example: procaine penicilline, ampicillin, emcillin ampiclox, amoxicillin, genticin, septrin, erythromycin etc More than one medicine may have been administered to the child. Examples of analgesics that might be given are paracetamol, panadol, acetaminophen etc. Circle the codes corresponding to all medicines given.
If the respondent does not know the name of the medicine, ask him/her to show you the medicines. If he/she cannot show the packaged medicine, follow the guidelines provided to you during training.
If the respondent names a medicine that is not listed, circle 'X' for 'Other' medicine and fill in the name of the medicine in the space provided.
If you cannot determine the type of medicine given to the child with a cough, circle 'Z' for 'DK'.
